About Backes Athletic Performance
Christian Backes is the Owner of Backes Athletic Performance and the Director of Sports Performance at LGC Athletics, and has spent more than 10 years working in the sports performance industry. Throughout his career, he has trained athletes across a wide range of sports and competitive levels, from youth athletes beginning their athletic development to high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. His experience includes working with athletes who have gone on to compete at programs such as Yale, Boston College, University of Illinois, Oregon, Villanova, Gonzaga, Holy Cross, University of Vermont, Colorado State, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado Mesa, University of Tampa, Bucknell, and many other collegiate programs, as well as athletes who have reached professional organizations including the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Colorado Rockies, and Atlanta Falcons.
Christian's coaching philosophy is centered on developing complete athletes rather than simply improving one aspect of performance. His programming combines strength, speed, power, acceleration, change of direction, movement quality, and durability while being tailored to the individual athlete's age, sport, experience, and goals. He believes effective performance training should build athletes physically while also teaching them how to move, train, and compete properly. Whether he is working with a young athlete developing foundational movement skills or an advanced athlete preparing for collegiate or professional competition, his goal is to create a structured training environment that produces long-term development and measurable performance improvements.
