Research Schools
Build a realistic target list across divisions before you reach out to anyone.
Most families start with a very narrow approach and target only a few schools; maybe it is schools that are familiar to them or maybe it is their dream schools. Don't fall into this trap and limit your options. The wider the net you cast, the better your chances are of finding a great match. Start with the schools that fit you academically, athletically, and financially. Consider location, weather, recreation, activities and culture, then be honest about where you can realistically compete for a roster spot. Once you have a clear picture of the type of school that fits your profile, it is time to build a tiered list, mostly realistic targets, a few safe options, and a few reaches. Don't burn a year chasing programs that are never going to show interest and are never going to call.
- Match academic and athletic fit by division
